How EdTechLab handles personal information
Last updated: March 11, 2026
This notice explains how EdTechLab Ltd uses personal information collected through this website and through direct email enquiries. It applies to EdTechLab's education technology research lab website, related communications, and product or partnership discussions that begin through the site.
Who we are
EdTechLab Ltd is a UK education technology research lab. For the purposes of UK data protection law, EdTechLab Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us at hello@edtechlab.co.uk.
The information we collect
- Name, email address, organisation, enquiry type, and message details that you choose to send.
- Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, page URL, and request metadata collected through hosting, security, server logging, and website operations.
- Records of correspondence if you contact us by email about researcher tooling, products, partnerships, or website enquiries.
How we use personal information
- Responding to enquiries and managing follow-up discussions.
- Assessing potential research support work, partnerships, pilots, or product requests.
- Operating, securing, and improving the website and related communications.
- Maintaining appropriate business records of relevant enquiries, decisions, and follow-up.
Our lawful bases
We normally process enquiry and correspondence data because it is in our legitimate interests to operate the business, respond to requests, and assess potential work. Where processing is necessary before entering into a contract, we may also rely on steps taken at your request before contract. If we rely on consent for any specific activity, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Sharing and service providers
We may share personal information with carefully selected service providers that support website hosting, email delivery, security, analytics, or business operations where this is necessary. At the time of writing, the website is hosted through Vercel and contact form notifications are delivered through Resend. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the site for advertising profiling.
| Provider | Role | Typical data involved | Location notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Website hosting, asset delivery, serverless contact endpoint, and aggregate web analytics/performance monitoring on approved domains. | Technical request data, IP address, page and performance metadata, and contact form request metadata. | Global edge/network delivery and configured function execution regions. Data may be processed outside the UK depending on routing and deployment settings. |
| Resend | Transactional email delivery for website enquiry notifications. | Sender and recipient email details, enquiry content, and delivery metadata. | Region depends on the sending-domain configuration. Resend currently offers domains in North Virginia, Ireland, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo, so international transfers may occur. |
International transfers
Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we will take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.
Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, including responding to enquiries, managing ongoing discussions, and keeping appropriate business records. If an enquiry does not lead to an active relationship, we normally aim to review or delete it within 24 months unless there is a reason to keep it longer.
Cookies, analytics, and technical data
This site is currently designed as a public information website. It does not currently offer user accounts, paid services, or advertising cookies. Hosting infrastructure may still process technical request data and essential cookies needed for security, performance, or core website operation. On approved live or preview domains, the site may also use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand aggregate site usage and performance.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party profiling on this website. Vercel states that Web Analytics does not use cookies, which is part of why we treat it as a limited, aggregate observability tool rather than a marketing tracker.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, or transfer your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Contact and complaints
If you have a privacy question or want to exercise your rights, email hello@edtechlab.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office if you believe your information has been handled unlawfully. Further details are available at ico.org.uk.
Website enquiry form
When you submit the website enquiry form, the information is sent to EdTechLab's server-side contact endpoint, validated, and forwarded to the EdTechLab inbox. The form includes basic spam screening such as a honeypot field and submit-time checks. We do not intentionally publish your message contents, and reasonable technical controls are used to protect the submission process.
